Intestinal Bioengineering Research Laboratory
The overarching goal of our Intestinal Bioengineering Research Laboratory is to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms that regulate intestinal epithelial cell metabolism and homeostasis. We develop bioengineering tools which we use in combination with novel animal surgery models, molecular imaging, multi-omic analysis, and biochemistry. Our research aims to mechanistically decipher how these cells respond to various intrinsic and extrinsic physicochemical signals, with a primary focus on metabolic disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
